BURKE, INC. LAUNCHES THE ALBERTA BURKE ACADEMY, A NEW MENTORSHIP PROGRAM, TO EMPOWER HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

Burke, Inc. is pleased to announce the launch of The Alberta Burke Academy, a two-year program that empowers students to define and create their own opportunities through project-focused mentorship.

In partnership with Shroder High School, the unique program will help students build the skills necessary for post-graduation success. Students selected for the program will develop a community project of their choice and bring it to life with the help of a team of Burke mentors. In addition, Burke will help students on their journey to college by providing assistance with college applications, career exploration, and test preparation.

“As a company, education is one of our core values. The launch of the Alberta Burke Academy is an extension of our belief in the power of education and provides the perfect opportunity for us to support students in their efforts to grow, learn, and develop,” said Diane Surette, Burke President and CEO. “We are very excited for this partnership and for the opportunity to make a positive impact with Shroder High School and in our beloved Cincinnati community.”

Burke’s commitment to education can further be reflected in the many initiatives the company has supported and empowered throughout the years. Since 1975, Burke has provided educational opportunities for people of all backgrounds and at all levels through its research education division, The Burke Institute. Additionally, the company has partnered with local elementary school Rees E. Price Academy for over 35 years, and now lends its support to local high school students through the Alberta Burke Academy. Last year, Burke helped establish the Minority Access Partnership Program, a unique multi-firm internship program that extends opportunities in marketing research and insights to a more diverse pool of undergraduate talent. Burke is also a founding member of the Insights Association IDEAtors Fellowship Program for young professionals, which aims to increase diversity in the insights industry at large.

The Alberta Burke Academy will be supporting their student leader program participant, Kira – a local high school student – in her efforts to organize and implement a fundraising event for Moving Beyond Depression, building postpartum depression awareness. Join us June 11th from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Yeatmans Cove in Cincinnati for this fun event full of field-day games, inflatables, food trucks and raffles!
